We humans love to be out on the water. Who can resist the lure of a bridge or a jetty leading out into the heart of a lake or a bay? Imagine if that jetty were floating, with trees and plants on either side, and led out to your own private peaceful place - perhaps a Japanese tea house, or a gazebo, or meditation labyrinth?
And if your purpose were more practical - for instance mooring a boat where the water-level fluctuates, what better than a natural living walkway?
BioHaven Living Walkways deliver all the water quality benefits of a Floating Treatment Wetland while supporting a practical application, such as boat docking.
BioHaven floating islands can be built to support many different kinds of structures, from picnic tables to houses. As well as reaping the benefits of being on the water, you are delivering to the water all the benefits of BioHavens - beauty, habitat, carbon sequestration and pollutant removal.
They are also great to walk on. Firm yet springy, they cushion your footfalls and make you feel like you're walking on ... water!
Walk on it, dive off it, swim around it, fish from it, use it for target practice ..... imagine even living on it yourself!
You might even want to make a statement and get married on one, as Bruce and Anne did.
Floating Walkways are constructed using a modular system. Buoyancy is higher than in our standard islands, and pre-built walkways, usually made of cedar or plastic cobbles, are surfaced into the matrix. The sides are planted as with any floating island, using BioMix and sod or plants.
