Wetland Restoration
BioHavens are an exciting and serious option for restoring lost wetlands. Wetlands are arguably the most valuable habitat on earth, providing riparian edge for myriad creatures. Humans have a predeliction for water-side living too, but at the cost of destroying vast tracts of this habitat.
BioHavens represent a "concentrated wetland effect". For every 250 sq ft BioHaven you get an acre's worth of surface area. Who said they're not making any more land?! You don't need to create more (terrestrial) land - just launch a BioHaven. They work in deep as well as shallow water. They float with the water level so you don't have to allow extra area for flooding and receding. They clean up the water as well as providing habitat and beautification.
One of our most successful restoration projects has been carried out by the Citizens for Conservation, in Barrington, IL, who won a prestigious civic award for their work with floating slands.

BioHavens are ideal for bank restoration projects, such as this one in Livingston, Montana.
Planting and launching floating islands is a fun way to get a group of people working together. They build community. Island launchers develop a sense of ownership of their island and take responsibility for stewarding it - and their waterway.
