Floating Island International offers two standardized RAM (Reduction of Aquatic Methane) models, with two more in development. Each RAM system addresses various challenges within aquatic ecosystems. RAM 1, 2, and 3 models will reduce methane and provide many additional environmental benefits within waterbodies.

  • RAM 1 – aeration and mixing for shallow waters less than 8 feet deep (solar-powered
    available)
  • RAM 2 – targeted benthic aeration for deep waters
  • RAM 3 – removes the buildup of organic sludge or the “muck” from the bottom of a waterbody
  • RAM 4 – dredges the sediment, which can then be processed to collect precious or rare earth metals

RAM 1: Shallow Water Bodies

RAM 1 is designed to improve water quality in shallow lakes, ponds, and slow-moving water bodies. It helps communities restore water that has been impacted by nutrient pollution, algae growth, and poor circulation. RAM 1 reduces methane emissions from impaired waterbodies by successfully oxygenating the whole system. RAM 1 has many ancillary environmental and community benefits as well.

Ancillary Benefits

  • Odor reduction, which would otherwise be produced in stagnant or polluted waters

  • Harmful algae bloom (HAB) prevention

  • Prevents fish kills caused by low oxygen levels

  • Deters/decreases mosquito larvae population overgrowth, which can occur in stagnant water

  • Stops water body closures due to safety concerns

  • Provides the opportunity for a reliable, off-grid power source for continued treatment

  • Public complaints about neglected and sick water will halt

Why It Matters:
RAM 1 helps restore healthier water conditions while reducing odors, improving water clarity, and supporting aquatic life. By improving circulation and reducing nutrient impacts, it can help communities avoid costly remediation efforts.

Ideal for:

  • Wastewater treatment ponds

  • Shallow lakes and ponds less than 8 feet deep

  • Municipal stormwater ponds and water bodies

RAM 2: Closed Flume System for Deeper Water

RAM 2 is designed for deeper lakes, reservoirs, and stormwater systems. It helps reduce nutrient pollution, control algae growth, and improve overall water health in larger water bodies. By successfully oxygenating a whole waterbody, RAM 2 reduces methane emissions from nutrient-impaired aquatic ecosystems. RAM 2 has many ancillary benefits for the environment and municipalities as well.

Ancillary Benefits

  • Harmful algae bloom (HAB) prevention
  • Odor reduction, which would otherwise be produced in stagnant or polluted waters
  • Reduced costs compared to traditional dredging
  • Prevents fish kills caused by low oxygen environments
  • No chemicals are used! This is a nature-based solution which helps the ecosystem thrive
  • Provides the opportunity for a reliable, off-grid power source for continued treatment
  • Public complaints related to water quality will halt

Why It Matters:

RAM 2 improves deeper water systems without the disruption and expense of dredging or chemical treatments. The result is healthier ecosystems, improved water clarity, and better long-term water management.

Ideal for:

  • Water 8 feet deep or greater
  • Stormwater ponds
  • Lakes and reservoirs
  • Private water bodies and community lakes

In Development

RAM 3: Sludge and Sediment Removal

RAM 3 removes the buildup of sludge and organic sediment that collects at the bottom of ponds and treatment systems. Without removal efforts, this buildup would reduce water capacity, worsen odors, and fuel algae growth. Because aquatic methane is produced predominantly within the sludge, RAM 3 reduces these emissions by removing sludge buildup.

Ideal for:

  • Water bodies of any depth
  • Wastewater treatment ponds
  • Heavily nutrient-loaded or eutrophic waters

RAM 4: Sediment Capture and Resource Recovery

RAM 4 captures and manages sediment in industrial and high-impact water environments. It is designed to reduce environmental disruption while improving resource recovery.

Ideal for:

  • Mining quarries and pit lakes
  • Tailings ponds
  • Superfund water bodies
  • Acid mine drainage environments

LICENSING RAM TECHNOLOGY

WE ARE SEEKING QUALIFIED PARTNERS.

Floating Island International is a world leader in impaired-water solutions. First on the planet to develop a solution specifically for aquatic methane emissions, FII’s RAM system received its first issued patent in 2025 (in the US) with patents pending in many other parts of the world and a second patent filed in 2026.

After three years of testing, we know that RAM works. Our vision is to see RAM implemented at scale in every nutrient-impaired, eutrophic waterbody, across every country in the world. We can’t do it alone. We are looking for the right global entity with the appetite to be a pioneer, to reap the rewards of implementing RAM technology to the world at large. If that could be you, please contact us immediately! Time is of the essence!
